GAM Backend Packaged

With the new version, you will be able to use GAM Security without the need of importing all the Backend Objects and having a look and feel similar to the Design System of your application.

 

The GAM Backend packaged does not import new objects in the kb, since its objects are packaged in the sources. The benefits of working with GAM packaged is that its objects will not be compiled, reducing the times when performing compilation processes such as Rebuild All. The difference with the full backend option, which imports all the screens and objects, is that the compilation times of this last option are longer.

 

When running the Design System Wizard, in step 3, there is a new property named 'Include Backend' and the option in order to get this feature is 'Packaged'

The WorkWithPlus 'Import Design System' wizard, step 3 of 10 (Security), shows Settings for Type (GAM selected), Level (Authorization selected), and Include backend with 'Packaged' selected and highlighted by a red arrow. Logo for Login and Login Style options (Style 1-4) are listed, and the right pane previews a WORKWITHPLUS login form with Email, Password, Forgot Password, and Login button over a background photo.

A generated WorkWithPlus web application shows a dashboard Home page with a '352 Sales' KPI tile and an Orders pie chart, partially covered by an open GeneXus-themed side menu listing Dashboard, Users, Roles (highlighted), Applications, Security Policies, Repository, and Settings. The right panel shows a Roles list with an ADD button and rows for 'Unknown' and 'Administrator'.

 

As the packaged option does not import objects, it is not possible to customize them since there are no Webpanels available, however it is possible to modify the look and feel. In order to modify the Backend style, GeneXus adds the GAM Backend Style Override property:

The GeneXus IDE Start Page and KB Explorer are shown with a red arrow pointing to the Properties panel's 'GAM Backend Style Override' field under Integrated Security, set to 'WorkWithPlusGAMDS'. Other visible properties include Integrated Security Level ('Authorization'), Application ID, and Web specific settings like Login Object for Web ('Login').

As seen in the previous image, WorkWithPlus assigned a DesignSystemObject to customize the look and feel of the packaged backend, giving it a look similar to the design chosen when running the wizard.
